Hey Cowboy, told you I'd post the deeper stuff out here...

I'm doing this 21-day fast thing as well. I believe it will be a really good thing.

I really wanted to go into it with some sort of reasoning behind abstaining from certain foods. After praying and journaling, here's how it makes sense to me:

Deserts: represent the culturally acceptable, excusable sin that is common and culturally "normal". ie.: Unwholesome talk (mostly about others)

Candy and Carb Snacks: Represents the undiciplined wanderings into "convenient" sin. ie.: lustful thoughts and wandering eyes

Processed Foods: Represents the complicated and excuse-oriented sin that is often justified by circumstances. ie.: dishonest gain

Sugar: The moral laziness that keeps us comfortable, and keeps us from reaching our potential. ie.: procrastination.

Day 2 is now over. All is well, except for this caffiene withdrawal headache! (oops, left that off the list! I also gave up Spider Solitaire)

Day 7 is now over.

I had a couple great prayer times, but not in the Word enough.

I was running today, and trying to think straight about a couple of things. It seems that when I need solutions to tough social or spirtual maters, the answer evades me.

I think I heard God say to me: "How bad do you want to think clearly?"

I responded "Badly."

He said, "Than do a full fast the last week."

Frankly, this scares me. What if I can't do it?
Most of all, I hate the thought of it really being my own imagination, and putting myself through all that for no real reason.

I'm on track with my commitment so far, and looking with renewed interest and faith toward what he will reveal over the next two weeks.
